[ cell phone ramblings continues..... =/ ]

i bought the bb curve on black friday... you know, the busiest shopping day of the year..? and as much as i LOVED it, i wanted to see what others had to offer. so on a whim, went to the at and t store right down the street to look at the iPhone. altho i love love LOVED it, the security guard in the store was an asshole. first he tells me to throw my coffee away... which i completely understood but was SUCH a prick about it. like the iPhone was a priceless monet or something.

THEN! the story is empty right? but the security tells me i can't be on the phone for more than 15 minutes. i was like LOOK i wanna make sure it goes to all the web pages i constantly visit, understand the speed, and get used to the feel.... there's no one in the store so why can't i???? dude just says "policy lady" snorts and walks away. i asked to speak to manager, complained how rude the security dude was, and left to head down to the 24 hour apple store on 59th and 5th...

but i noticed the verizon store across the way, jaywalked, and activated a voyager on a whim hahaha. talk about emo!

so the verizon dude was really kind and took off 150 bucks instantly so i ended up only paying like 300, if that... and i walked out with a HOT ass phone. seriously, that phone is HOT! at first it looked like a bootleg iPhone but man, the LCD, keyboard, weight, the feel... that phone is the hottest thing (people included) i've seen in a LONG ass time

buuuuuuut, conclusions:

3. verizon voyager = if it looks too good to be true, it usually is =/

the keyboard is super easy to type on, but there's only one shift key on the left side... which is a huge pain when you're trying to type in symbols. there's also no push email, IM'ing clients (AIM is done via SMS) and absolutely no gchat, which is the chatting thing i use the most... the camera is DOPE (if you look at my flickr, there are two pictures of buildings in nyc taken with the voyager...) the browsing experience is DECENT but did not wow me. plus verizon automatically takes you to all their internal sites, which is a pain... and there are so many services and features, i had no idea what was free and what i had to pay for..... so after one night of playing with it, i took it RIGHT back to the store... =/

Overall = C

4. apple iPhone = ....................

today is the 4th day for me officially owning the iPhone and i must say i'm still undecided. the browsing experience is AMAZING. safari is A LOT faster on the iPhone than it is on macs and overall the best mobile internet phone EVER. and as you can see, i've gone through A LOT of phones. (even the treo... no offense but the treo browsing experience is the shittiest ever. and the motoQ... had that for a while from verizon when it first came out but returned it within a week =/) anyway, i digress

so lemme break it down...

pros:
+ the most gorgeous UI, voyager included
+ best browser
+ fun

........................................................................ =/

cons:

+ the camera is worse than last week's fermented garbage
+ no chat clients, NONE!! there are web based ones such as meebo, beejive, mundu.. but once you minimize or close the safari window, you lose connection.
+ volume is low
+ only earpiece available (that i know of) is the apple blue tooth one which is worse than last week's fermented garbage. it's fuzzy, the battery drains SUPER fast, and is just an overall inefficient overpriced accessory from apple =/
+ no notification icons... so say for example you got a new text message or email while you're browsing or chatting or something, right? there's NOTHING that comes up to alert you. only sounds =/
+ no option to save emails as drafts =/
+ extremely low battery life
+ apple voids warranty if 3rd party apps are downloaded. WTF!
+ doesn't scroll... for example, say you're writing a long email and like you want to re-read it, or you wanted to add something to the top... there's no option to scroll up to the starting point =/

AND THE ABSOLUTE WORST THING EVER, AUTOTEXT REPLACEMENT THINGY!!!

...maybe i'm just not used to it, but MAN ever since i switched to the iphone my typos have increased x928374923874928378923. seriously. when typos get replaced, the entire context of the sentence changes... or more like becomes indecipherable =/ x9283749238742893. i'm still deciding if i want to keep it or not... i have 10 more days to decide ;)

Overall score = undecided... but borderline B- / C+
